Limitation suggests that in my present environment and with pressing duties there is no opportunity to express thankfulness to God for His goodness, mercy, guidance, and protection, revealed to us through the teachings of Christian Science. But there is opportunity and inspiration. I constantly praise God for His Church; for Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; and for Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader. Since I have been in the Army, I have often enjoyed the memory of my first healing through Christian Science, that of influenza, when I was twelve; the joyful days in the Christian Science Sunday School; the thread of right thinking which finally guided me out of the maze of confused thoughts into the harmony of God's ideas.

For a period after I graduated from college, I was obsessed by agnosticism, which was evidenced physically by indulgence in alcohol and cigarettes, and a chronic sinus condition. The thread of right desire brought me to the point where I was instantaneously healed in Christian Science of the false desire for the stimulants; shortly thereafter the sinusitis also disappeared.

The directive influence of prayer has become increasingly apparent since I entered the Army. It has been a privilege to know two Wartime Ministers, who have helped me spiritually and rendered many human services. While I was at a New England camp, the Wartime Minister was ready to help from the day of my arrival. Through his prayerful efforts many problems which at first seemed overpowering were solved.
