In an advertisement which appeared in an issue of the Outlook, Christian Science was improperly referred to as a form of "selfhypnotism." So that your readers will not have a mistaken idea of Christian Science, I should appreciate your courtesy in publishing this corrective statement.

Christian Science is based entirely upon the teachings of the Bible. It reinstates the Christianity of Jesus' time, and restores the Science of healing used by the master Christian and his followers. Jesus healed by prayer, by spiritual means, only. He relied entirely upon God, whom he referred to as "our Father."

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, says in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 180): "Christian Science contains no element whatever of hypnotism or animal magnetism. It appeals alone to God, to the divine Principle, or Life, Truth, and Love, to whom all things are possible; and this Principle heals sin, sickness, disease, and death."
