Words are inadequate to express...

Words are inadequate to express the debt of gratitude I owe to the teachings of Christian Science. That "man's extremity is God's opportunity" was proved to me when all material remedies had failed to heal me of a condition which had puzzled the doctors for many years. I had been losing weight steadily; over a period of about four years my weight had gone from one hundred and sixteen to fifty-two pounds.

During one of his visits the doctor told my mother that I was so weak it was wonderful I was still alive, and added that I could not live many more days. He turned to me and said, in effect: "We have done all that we can for you and it is pitiful to see you in this condition. Would you care to try psychology or Christian Science or some other method of healing?"

At the words "Christian Science" my mother's face lit up, because a neighbor, who had seen our need and whose daughter had been healed in Christian Science, had mentioned that she knew that Christian Science could heal me; but although mother had told me this I had not responded.
