I have been a student of Christian Science for ten years, during which time I have had many healings. Among these was the healing of a severely aggravated type of astigmatism which caused me much pain and headache, and necessitated the wearing of glasses most of the time. Indigestion, constipation, colds, fatigue, and also impatience, intolerance, and condemnation, have been overcome by the understanding and practice of the Golden Rule.

My daughter too has become a student of Science. It was never forced on her, but from observing its effect upon my life, health, happiness, and also in my work, she has come to a realization of its value. She has been wonderfully protected as a result of her own work and that of a practitioner, and it is of one outstanding instance that I should like to tell.

While traveling with a theatrical company my daughter was offered an engagement as a solo entertainer in a night club in a large eastern city. She was quite naturally very much pleased at the opportunity, which seemed auspicious for a young singer, and also with the fine salary offered. On Monday of the week for which she had been engaged her contract was canceled because of some misunderstanding concerning the money in the budget for entertainment. This proved to be an instance of protection, for later that week a fire occurred in that club in which many lives were lost.
