No Shortages in Soul's "infinite resources"

We hear much about shortages. From radio, press, and conversation come dismal predictions of new shortages in this or that commodity, both essentials and luxuries. We should take a strong mental stand against succumbing to such a popular contagion of foreboding.

Doubtless the picture may seem dark, but there is a wealth of precedent in both modern and ancient history to disprove the necessity of accepting lack and limitation, however realistic it seems. The alert student of Christian Science will find in the Bible, and in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and other writings by Mary Baker Eddy, much encouragement with which to meet the discouraging suggestions of today.

Mortal mind testifies to the evidence of lack in human experience, lack of health, lack of money, lack of opportunity. And today these lacks may seem very real. Adjustments must be made, and sacrifices of many things ordinarily deemed essential are required, in which the loyal citizen will co-operate to the full. But to admit that there can be shortages of anything essential for existence and right activity is to admit that God is not the supreme provider of His universe, including man.
