The Careless Days Are Gone

The sober days of responsibility have come. No longer can pokiness, indifference, the ostrich mentality, nonsense of any sort be tolerated. Alertness, energetic effort, impatience with wrong are insistent demands of the hour. For never has evil appeared more rampant and insolent than now. Neither individuals nor nations should dare to dawdle in indecision.

The persistent question, "Why am I here?" may give pause to the irresolute, yet how can any reflective individual doubt that he is here to make this a better world, to "confirm the feeble knees" and build up the "waste places." Jesus answered the question in Pilate's courtroom, answered it for all mankind, when he exclaimed: "To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth."

Why then have you come into the world? For essentially the same reason that Jesus came, that is, to play your right part—to put into operation the courage, the wisdom, the goodness, the helpfulness, the invincible host of Godlike energies in defense of human security and freedom.
