Choosing to Serve God

"This material world is even now becoming the arena for conflicting forces. On one side there will be discord and dismay; on the other side there will be Science and peace," writes Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, on page 96 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Mrs. Eddy, through divine revelation, thus pointed to the struggle between Truth and error. At present we are confronted with an intensified phase of the battle between right and wrong which has continued throughout the ages.

In his letter to the Romans, we find these words of Paul: "The carnal mind is enmity against God." This shows very clearly that there is no agreement between Spirit and the carnal mind, or flesh. To "live after the flesh," as the apostle says, means death, but "to be spiritually minded is life and peace."

In this conflict we see wrong arrayed against right, error against Truth, matter against Spirit, hate against Love, lawlessness against Principle, discord and the senses against Science and peace, dishonesty against honesty, sorrow against joy, paganism against Christianity, and death against Life. Thus it is easy for each one to see which side he is or should be on, for his own good and for the good of all mankind.
