During more than twenty years...

During more than twenty years the blessed teachings of Christian Science have been leading me on from sense to Soul. And as my faithfulness and steadfastness to Truth have increased, my joy and understanding have proportionately enlarged.

For many blessings I wish to express gratitude. Greatest of all to me is my love of Truth and the attending joy and peace that have been mine through many adverse circumstances. I am grateful for the overcoming of undesirable traits of character, and am ever mindful of the promise contained in Philippians, "Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you."

Many physical healings have brought to me and mine the proof of God's ever-presence and omnipotence. I should like to tell of one healing, trusting that it may bless others. While serving as musician in a branch church, I was awakened one Sunday morning with intense pain in my side. I endeavored to lift my thought and to realize the unreality of pain. I got up and with difficulty reached the other room, when I became so faint and desperately ill that I was scarcely able to call to my husband. He carried me back to bed and asked me what to do. I told him to go immediately for a practitioner. Even before she came I received help, and her face and the words which she spoke as she entered the room I shall never forget. She called me by name, saying, "Now you know that 'there is no pain in Truth, and no truth in pain'" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 113). The realization of this truth was as a light, and I was healed in a very few moments. I arose, dressed, prepared breakfast for my family, and at church time I was in my place at the piano.
