Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." We also read in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 167), "Only through radical reliance on Truth can scientific healing power be realized."

My gratitude for healing in Christian Science is more than words can express. I was healed of deafness. One ear was closed for about three years; then the other ear closed. I could hear nothing clearly. If anyone was very close to me I could hear a sort of mumbling, but no distinct sound. At that time I was employed in business, where I contacted the public and many employees. I was panicstricken and said to a Christian Science practitioner, "I must resign my position or take time off." The practitioner referred me to Mrs. Eddy's beautiful address on the subject of "Obedience," beginning on page 116 of "Miscellaneous Writings," in which she brings out the importance of never being absent from one's post. I also said to the practitioner, "What if the proprietor should come to me and I could not hear what he wished to tell me?" She answered, "If he talks to you, you will hear." But all this I thought impossible, and when I left her she said to me, "Do as you think best."

When I awakened the next morning I wanted to be obedient, so I went to work. The condition continued for eight days. My employer talked to me once during that time, and I heard every word he said. On the eighth day both my ears opened; but one of them soon closed again. A Christian Science lecture, which I attended soon after this, made it clear to me that sight and hearing are spiritual, perfect, and eternal. As I listened, all fear left me, and in a short time I was healed completely and permanently. This was about ten years ago.
