Demonstrating Christ, Truth, in Business

A STUDENT of Christian Science, who had come unharmed through many engagements during the World War, attributed his protection to an unwavering confidence in the ever-presence of Love. There came a time, however, in the midst of a heavy battle, when he thought, "How can God possibly be in this place!" The next moment he was struck and wounded by a piece of shrapnel. Yielding to the temptation to doubt the omnipresence of God, he distrusted his spiritual armor and was, in belief, vulnerable.

This lesson shows the necessity for constant right thinking and is applicable to every phase of human experience. Increasing numbers of men and women throughout the world are testifying to relief from discordant conditions in business, obtained by their adherence to the Christ, Truth, which demonstrates the omnipresence and omniaction of God.

Sometimes we find ourselves in an environment where sharp practice, greed, anger, and fear seem rampant. If we are employees, we may wish to resign, but the possibility of unemployment argues against taking that step. The fact of one's being an employee, however, does not, of itself, affect the problem, for in Christian Science any inharmonious condition must be rightly met and mastered. Withdrawal from the outward scene of conflict prior to obtaining individual spiritual mastery and freedom is not the true solution, and, at best, is but a temporary expedient. Sooner or later the issue must be faced and destroyed by the scientific understanding of the nothingness of error and the allness of God.
