Among the Churches

Current Notes

Jackson Citizen Patriot

Jackson, Michigan (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, Jackson, held dedicatory services on Sunday, March 17, 1940, in the morning and afternoon. The regular order of service was followed, and in addition a sketch of the church history was read.

Since no Christian Science church is dedicated until it is free from debt, the services were indicative of the fact that all indebtedness on the property had been liquidated.

The church, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, was organized in 1895. Services were held in a hall until 1902, when a church building on the west side of Blackman Park was purchased, and used until the present edifice was completed in 1925.
