Mere words cannot express my gratitude for Christian Science. I was very much discouraged over my physical condition, for I had been treated by a number of physicians and had received no help. I was going from house to house selling sunbonnets, when a stranger asked me to try Christian Science. After several days I returned and asked this woman to take me to a Christian Science practitioner, which she did. We then went to a Reading Room, where I borrowed "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Then I began to study and to learn more about God and man. In a short time I was completely healed of pellagra.

I have relied solely on Christian Science as my only physician since that first healing in September, 1931. I have been healed of constipation and influenza, and have been protected from accidents. I was also healed of the snuff habit, after thirty years, by repeating, with increasing understanding, "the scientific statement of being," as found in Science and Health (p. 468), every time the temptation came to me to use snuff. In less than twenty-four hours all desire for it left me, and with no bad aftereffects.

My son was healed of pneumonia, pleurisy, and tuberculosis. I am most grateful for these healings. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; for class instruction, for the practitioners and Reading Rooms, and for all the activities of Christian Science. For our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and for her revelation of Truth, which is ever ready to help us, I am indeed grateful.
