Extracts from Reports of Christian Science Committees on Publication

The Christian Science churches and societies in British Columbia united with those throughout the Dominion in presenting to the King and Queen an illuminated address of welcome on the occasion of Their Majesties' first visit to Canada.

Another sign of the times, which came as a result of the healing work, legislative activities, friendly relations with the clergy, and the good activity of Christian Scientists in this province, was the invitation of "His Majesty's Government in British Columbia" to your Committee on Publication, as representative of the Christian Science church, to have the honor of being presented to Their Majesties, the King and Queen, at the state luncheon at the Empress Hotel in Victoria. The Christian Science Board of Directors approved, and with sixty-five British Columbians representing the judiciary, university, church, navy, and army, your Committee and his wife were presented to Their Majesties, afterwards attending the state luncheon, at the close of which the King broadcast his address to the Empire.

Shortly after Canada declared war, six of the leading Protestant denominations united in giving a special Sunday afternoon half-hour broadcast over radio station CKWX, Vancouver. The message of your Committee had the approval of The Christian Science Board of Directors, and at the clost of the service the six representatives gathered round the microphone and repeated the Lord's Prayer. So successful was this broadcast that the radio station has invited the same group to consider giving a similar program at stated intervals.
