Simplicity of Spiritual Work

[Original article in French]

Not infrequently one hears an individual who knows little of Christian Science, or who has done only very superficial reading on the subject, say, "Science seems to me quite complicated, and I do not understand it."

Christian Scientists refute this statement by declaring that one of the essential characteristics of Christian Science is its simplicity, and questioners are encouraged to persevere in their study until they find this out for themselves. The simplicity of Christian Science is evident in the fact that children in the Christian Science Sunday Schools grasp the truth sufficiently well to put it into practice and obtain blessings from it.

Showing his disciples the need for humility, our Master, Christ Jesus, set a little child before them and said, "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." In giving them this example, Jesus clearly indicated that the simplicity of the childlike thought is characteristic of spirituality.
