The various statements and implications in a recent article on the free church lead me to offer some observations about religious freedom, individual and collective.

Christ Jesus presented the standard of freedom for all Christians and their churches when he said to a group of loyal followers, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Manifestly, the freedom of which he spoke is invulnerable. No human dictator can take from the spiritually-minded individual the privilege of thinking as Jesus thought and thus being prepared to know the truth that makes free. Paul and Silas proved that grateful Christians can gain their freedom from injustice.
