Kimberley, Cape Province, Union of South Africa (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Kimberley, held its morning and evening dedicatory services on Sunday, December 11, 1938. The first service held in this building was in 1931, but it is the custom of the Christian Science organization to dedicate a church only when it is free from debt. The building is simple in design but very impressive.

Preceding the reading of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly, a history of the church organization was read by the First Reader.

In 1923, Christian Science Society, Kimberley, was recognized as a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, which was founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1879. Funds were raised for the first lecture in 1925. Since then a lecture has been given each year.

In 1926, rooms were rented in Jones Street, where the services were held until the acquisition of the present building. In 1930, the society obtained recognition as a branch church, and negotiations were made to obtain the present building.—Diamond Fields Advertiser.
