The True Way

Often we find ourselves trying to gain an understanding of Christian Science through the study of the letter. While an understanding of the letter is necessary, demonstration depends upon the application of divine Principle and its rules. We demonstrate divine Principle, thus bringing into our experience more of harmony in thought and deed. No matter how small the beginning, every demonstration in its measure blesses the whole world. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, referring to Jesus, has written in "Unity of Good" (p. 55), "He was the Way-shower; and Christian Scientists who would demonstrate 'the way' must keep close to his path, that they may win the prize."

Whether the discord be self-pity, indecision, or unemployment, mortal mind may suggest that the solving of the problem is beyond our present understanding, and that we should try a better and more practical way. But as we use our God-given ability, Truth will control us and so illumine our consciousness that the right way will be shown and acknowledged, and we shall demonstrate our true selfhood. Our revered Leader illumines our path with light and healing with these words in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 411): "If Spirit or the power of divine Love bear witness to the truth, this is the ultimatum, the scientific way, and the healing is instantaneous."

It is our privilege daily to study the Bible, together with the Christian Science textbook, and constantly, by mental application of Christlike understanding, prove the truth. Alert and watchful to realize that whatever seems to be inharmonious or discordant is untrue, we can affirm the spiritual fact about any circumstance, rise above any erroneous and imperfect condition, and overcome the error with truth. Did not the Master say, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"?
