The East Side Journal

Mercer Island, Washington (Society).—Christian Science Society of Mercer Island, having cleared all indebtedness, dedicated their church on Sunday, November 13, 1938, services being held in the morning and afternoon.

In the spring of 1929 a need for Christian Science services on Mercer Island was recognized. As a result, a group of Christian Scientists organized Christian Science Society, Mercer Island, Washington.

The first Sunday morning service was held in the Keewaydin Club House on May 12, 1929. Two weeks later Sunday school services were also held, in addition to the church services. The society was duty incorporated under the laws of the state of Washington on June 5, 1932, as a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
