Cristobal, Canal Zone (First Church). — The first service in the new church home of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Cristobal, was held on Sunday, September 4, 1938.

The main part of a Christian Science church service is identical in all churches of this denomination throughout the world. The Second Reader reads passages from the Bible, followed by the reading of correlative passages by the First Reader, from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. These readings constitute the sermon. No Christian Science church building is ever dedicated until it is entirely free of debt.

The church was organized as a society in 1916, became a church in 1934, and is a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts.
