"Truth is revealed"*

Our Saviour saw the wide green fields,
But more than fields beheld—
Their fruitful story oftentimes
A parable impelled.

He marked the sower and the seed,
With wisdom to portray
The seedtime and the harvest of
His brethren's common day.

He pointed out the barren weed
Amid the growing wheat,
That marred its yield, as evil clouds
Reflection—pure, complete.

The fig tree that deceived and mocked
Afforded for its part,
To show the forfeit of deceit
That would defile the heart.

The lily wearing stately grace
His Christly vision stirred,
And lovingly he gave to men
His great and healing word.

Beneath the seeming let me find
The lesson there to learn,
For Truth has been revealed to him
Who would indeed discern.
