The Open Door

What though the transient, outward man may perish,
When God's true man each day unfolds?
His man—of Spirit—Love will ever cherish,
Safe in the only Life, that shelters all, said Paul.
No need for fear, though earth loom dark with shadows,
Since looking upward finds eternal good;
Effulgent wait cool streams, and flower-starred meadows—
Thought wings our way, true being understood!
Is hope deferred, are mortal burdens crushing?
Trust on, brave heart, love God and man the more.
Then, when the mighty winds of Truth come rushing,
You will stand ready, at the open door,
The door that none may shut, O welcome portal,
Where dreams of matter fade in Life immortal!
