"Enough to know"

A student of Christian Science, listening to a beautiful solo during a Christian Science Sunday service, was cheered and greatly helped by the message which culminated in the words: "God is! This is enough to know." As the music ceased, the student felt secure, more free, more receptive of the message of God's presence and power which the remainder of the service conveyed.

Just seven simple words, but what a mighty message! Could any circumstance or claim of sin, sickness, turmoil, or disaster enter the consciousness which knows that "God is"? Long ago the writer of the epistle to the Hebrews perceived the vital value of such knowing, and stated, "He that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

How may we apply this knowing in our daily life? How shall we qualify for this reward? First, the need is for a true concept of God in place of the thought of Him as a majestic personage in a distant sphere. The Bible tells us plainly that God is everywhere. The Psalmist wrote, "Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, ... thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways." Such all-knowing, all-seeing omnipresence is not within the compass of finite being. Finity can never satisfactorily represent God, for God is infinite.
