It is with a deep sense of gratitude to God and love for Christian Science that I send this testimony.

One day, while still a small child, I was taken to a doctor's office for a diagnosis, as I did not appear very well or strong. He told my parents that my trouble was of a serious nature, that I must be watched very carefully, and that a physician should be called at the least sign of sickness. Mrs. Eddy says on page 198 of Science and Health: "A patient's belief is more or less moulded and formed by his doctor's belief in the case, even though the doctor says nothing to support his theory. His thoughts and his patient's commingle, and the stronger thoughts rule the weaker." The seed of fear was planted in the minds of my parents and myself, and thus began years of sickness and suffering for me and of anziety for my parents.

When I arrived at young womanhood, conditions became such that a surgical operation was thought necessary and was performed, but this was only the start. Four other operations followed, and each time the physicians and surgeons, who were always very kind, hoped to bring permanent relief. After the last operation there was no improvement, and the physician said that nothing more could be done and I had but a short time to live.
