Still with Thee

When I awake I am with Thee,
And know the nothingness of dreams
As through a glass I darkly see
That matter is not what it seems.
With joy I tread the upward way
Led by Thy strong sustaining hand,
But when the dream entices me
I loose the clasp, and waiting, stand.

But flowers of fancy cannot hold
Me long beneath narcotic sway.
More clearly now, I understand
God's image cannot go astray.
And well I know I shall awake
In Thine own likeness to abide,
If I continue in Thy Word—
Free, and forever satisfied.
