In a sermon recently broadcast from this station certain statements relative to Christian Science were made which may have given to the public a wrong impression of some of its teachings.

It is not my purpose to take time for any explanation of Christian Science apart from the correction of the misunderstanding, for the inquirer will find full information on the subject in the books written by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, and in the authorized literature of The Christian Science Publishing Society, available at all Christian Science Reading Rooms and most public libraries.

The sermon, which was on the subject of the "More Abundant Life," dealt with the part which the struggles with the vicissitudes of human life have had in ennobling human character and gave the impression that Christian Science ignores this effect because it affirms that trials are not of God's realm. A comfortable, well-fed, prosperous individual, free from human ills was set forth as the goal of the Christian Scientist. Such is far from the truth. The ennobling effect of struggling to overcome evil and hardships is in full accord with Christian Science teaching.
