"Be ye therefore perfect"

THE command of Jesus, "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect," coincides with God's law of universal, spiritual perfection by which every individual spiritual idea is everlastingly blessed. Perfection is not made, unmade, or remade; it expresses God, divine Principle. All real existence manifests perfection.

Perfection, then, is not a personal characteristic, toilsomely built up on a foundation of conquered sin or suffering. Perfection, harmony, is the scientific truth about God and man, to be naturally and joyously demonstrated in all that relates to health, character, outlook, and achievement. One who loyally holds his thought to the perfection of God expressed in man, denies imperfection, depression, discouragement, and all other illusory arguments of evil. Undismayed by material sense evidence, he perseveres in glorifying the omnipotence of God, good. He entertains no doubts regarding God's perfection, and therefore can entertain none regarding the perfection of God's idea, man.

Christian Science is enabling us to prove the truth of Mrs. Eddy's grand statement (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 6): "Mind governs all. That we exist in God, perfect, there is no doubt, for the conceptions of Life, Truth, and Love must be perfect; and with that basic truth we conquer sickness, sin, and death." Through being consistently scientific and Christian in thought and deed, all may learn to "abide under the shadow of the Almighty," that is, to demonstrate the omnipotence of good. Suggestions of imperfection have no basis or background in Truth. Because everything real is perfect, nothing imperfect is real. Imperfection is not an objectified fact to be fought; it is a baseless, whispered lie to be denied a hearing on the ground that the perfection of divine Principle is being fully manifested throughout the infinite spiritual creation.
