From a truly grateful heart I give this testimony of my first healing in Christian Science, which took place twelve years ago. I had gone from one doctor to another without getting any relief from a severe nervous breakdown. My mother learned that a noted specialist was to be in a near-by town for a time, and I decided to go to him, hoping to get relief. After an examination this specialist told me that I should have to undergo a surgical operation if I wished to regain my health, and that unless I consented to this he could do nothing for me. My mother urged me to consent to the operation, but I told her I did not believe in operations, and that I would take up Christian Science, for I knew of others whom it had healed, and I believed it would heal me.

On arriving home I got some Christian Science literature and began to study. Soon I asked a Christian Science practitioner to give me treatments, and continued my own study. I had to root out old and false beliefs and replace them with spiritual ideas. As by degrees I built a strong foundation in Christian Science, my healing came. I regained my health and have been working ever since. Before my healing I could scarcely stand on my feet and could not walk any distance, but this trouble entirely disappeared.

Since taking up Christian Science I have received many other healings. My three-year-old son was healed of pneumonia; and I am grateful for the divine protection we have had in our home. I owe it all to God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to Mary Baker Eddy, who brought this wonderful blessing to mankind.
