Choose Ye

I might have been one of the lepers,
The ten by the wayside that day,
Who stood afar off and besought him
To send their foul sickness away.

I might have obeyed his commandment,
And found I was healed as I went;
I might have forgotten his kindness,
And turned back to matter, content.

I may be the one who was grateful,
Who came, brimming over with love,
And fell at the feet of the Master,
To thank the dear Father above.

I may lift my heart in thanksgiving,
In homage and praise for His power.
My joy is the right to be grateful,
And gratitude is the heart's flower.
