Christian Science appealed to me as a beautiful as well...

Christian Science appealed to me as a beautiful as well as a practical religion. I had had training as a medical nurse, and for me this brought about an unhappy, dissatisfied feeling with the teachings of the orthodox churches. A Christian Science Sentinel came to my notice and I read it with great interest and realized that it had come to me in answer to my prayer. This was the religion I wanted to embrace, although sense-testimony made it seem an impossibility. Christian Science has for many years healed me of physical ills, uplifted my thoughts, purified my affections, and it has changed my whole outlook on life.

When I was pouring boiling grease, about a pint of the contents fell on my hand. On page 434 of our textbook I read these words: "The law of Christ supersedes our laws; let us follow Christ." I replaced every fear thought with a love thought. The outcome was complete healing. When I looked, fifteen minutes later, the hand was not even red. This was cause for gratitude and a step higher in my understanding. This experience came early in my study of Christian Science. I wish to express my gratitude for the healing of constipation, bilious attacks, and rheumatism through the help of practitioners, also appreciation for our Hymnal, which has been a great comfort and has healed depressed thought.

I am deeply grateful for Christian Science and for the understanding I have gained through studying the Bible, Science and Health, and Mrs. Eddy's other writings, together with the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly. Our Leader's interpretations of Christ Jesus' teachings and healings have given me a clearer understanding of man and his relationship to God. I am grateful for the privilege of being a member of The Mother Church and of a branch church, with its opportunities for serving, and for class instruction.
