Awake with Song

Nature awakens with a song;
Silence and sleep to the night belong;
Melody heralds the birth of day,
Carol and symphony, lilting lay,
Bird oratorio, trilling clear,
Summoned by call of the chanticleer;
Dawn doth the curtain of night gently raise,
And nature awakens to joy and praise.

So let my heart at night's retreat
Wake with rejoicing the day to greet,
Grateful there come to my listening ear
Love's angel-messages, sweet and clear.
Claiming protection, guidance, and power,
Confident good encircles each hour.
And may thanksgiving my waking thoughts throng,
Even as nature awakens with song.
