Stirring Up Our Nest

"AS an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings," so, Moses declares, does God lead and care for His children.

In the Bible many references are made to the eagle, generally as a symbol of strength. The beautiful verse in Isaiah, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint," has brought comfort and healing to countless numbers of troubled, weary hearts.

We learn that the eagle dwells on rocks and in strong places, and makes her nest on high. Sometimes, when her young are old enough to fly, they are disinclined to leave the security and peace of their eyrie; then they are forced to leave the nest and fend for themselves.
