Reflection

The moon is full tonight;
Its gentle light
Bathes all around in beauty, yet that beam
Is only the reflection of a ray
From the majestic sun that rules our day.
So, let thy light, O child of God, now shine,
Ever remembering it is not thine;
Nay, but a gleam
Reflected from that source of light divine
In which we live and move.
Then may it be thy joyous task with love
To lead faith's earliest pilgrims through the night
To heaven's light.
