Christian Scientists deeply appreciate the notices of their church services which appear in your paper, and it is therefore a matter of regret that it seems necessary to correct a misprint which appeared in a recent issue. The subject of the Lesson-Sermon was, "Is the Universe, including man, Evolved by Atomic Force?" However, the type had it merely, "Man Evolved by Atomic Force."

The teachings of Christian Science are very clear in this connection, and the answer to the question set forth in the subject-title is an emphatic, No! The teachings of this Science are based on the Biblical premises that God is Spirit, that He is good, and that, as John phrases it, "without him was not any thing made that was made." If like produces like—and this accords not only with Scripture, but with the teachings of natural science—then it must be plain that Spirit could not create aught that is unspiritual.

The writer of Hebrews conveyed this idea in these words: "Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, constantly taught the impossibility of a dual creation, and her teachings in this respect may be summed up in these words found on page 135 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures": "Spiritual evolution alone is worthy of the exercise of divine power."
