I should like to tell how I came to Christian Science, and also express my great gratitude for all the good received since taking up its study.

When I was quite a small child the Bible stories interested me greatly, and I loved the so-called miracles of Jesus more than all else. I remember once, when ill and in bed, I asked my mother why she had sent for the doctor instead of our minister. At that time it seemed to my childish thought that the minister was doing Jesus' work for him, and that if Jesus had been with us he would have healed me. My questions were never answered, although my dear mother nursed me with all the loving care it was possible to give. As I grew up the question was often with me, "Why is the healing left out of our religion?"

I joined three different branches of the orthodox church, always looking for something to satisfy an inward craving for goodness. I knew something must come into my life before I should be satisfied, and I used to ask God to send me His light and to help me. During the great war, in a time of worry, anxiety, and distress, He caused a great light to shine on my path, and I felt geratly comforted and helped at that time.
