Many Christian Scientists are taking advantage of the opportunity which has been afforded them during the past two years to visit the interior of the house at 12 Broad Street, Lynn, which was occupied by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the days when she was completing the first edition of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." This is indicated by the record of guests who have been shown through the house. In the twenty-two months it has been open nearly eight thousand visitors have seen it. During this period First Church of Christ, Scientist, Lynn, has used this house for its Reading Room and church offices, and finds its Reading Room attendance and sales of Christian Science literature increased greatly. In expressing the gratitude felt by this church for the "honor and privilege" it has in acting as custodian for Mrs. Eddy's former home, the Executive Board of this church writes to the Directors of The Mother Church: "The trust which you have placed in this Church in giving us the privilege of occupying Mrs. Eddy's former home has strengthened the desire of our members to conduct our affairs in such a manner that we may be considered a vigorous and healthy branch of the vine. We are happy to tell you that harmony in very marked degree prevails in all departments of our Church activity. ... We are able to say with all sincerity that, while we have discussed 'as individuals,' we have decided 'as a unit.' " (See Directors' message, Annual Meeting Report, Sentinel of June 20, 1931.)

In the Christian Science Sentinel of June 4 and of August 6, 1932, The Christian Science Board of Directors invited branch churches and individuals to send historical statements for the Historical Files of The Mother Church. Many interesting accounts of this nature, including reminiscences, have been gratefully received, but a number of them have been sent in without signature for identification, and are therefore returned that this may be added. It is advisable that all such documents be signed and dated and, when sent by branch churches or societies, that they bear official indorsement.

Inquiry has been made as to whether these historical documents will be published intact. The Directors have no present intention of thus publishing them. The purpose in assembling them is that The Mother Church shall have as complete a historical file as possible relating to the growth of our movement and to the life of Mrs. Eddy.
