Evening Post

I am sorry that the views of the Church Manual of the Christian Science church held by your correspondent do not agree with those who voluntarily accept its authoritative mission, but this is his misfortune — and there is hope. No member of the Christian Science church will be found to indorse his erroneous contentions about the Board of Directors. Your readers will be interested to hear from an authentic source that the immense growth of the movement throughout the world, and of the healing work for which it stands, could have been accomplished only by steadfast, loyal reliance on the teachings of the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, as set forth for all to read in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" and her other writings, including the Church Manual.

The work that lies ready to hand for everyone is to follow the Way-shower, Christ Jesus, in living and working. Mrs. Eddy sounded a clarion note, which is echoing in other churches today, in declaring on page 450 of the above-mentioned textbook, "The Christian Scientist has enlisted to lessen evil, disease, and death; and he will overcome them by understanding their nothingness and the allness of God. or good;" and on pages 261 and 262: "Good demands of man every hour, in which to work out the problem of being. Consecration to good does not lessen man's dependence on God, but heightens it."

So the Christian Scientist feels he can safely work on and trustingly leave the issue to God.
