The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Inglewood, California (First Church).

Lecturer: Frank Bell; introduced by Mrs. Helen M. Denny, who said:—

Some thirty years ago I was sick, discouraged, and poor, having spent my earthly all upon the seven physicians who had used their material skill to heal me without avail. Upon the solicitation of a dear friend I turned to Christian Science. I shall never forget the arrival of the Christian Science practitioner whom I summoned. Desiring to be honest with her I exclaimed, "If I have to pretend to believe in Christian Science to get well I will never be healed, for I do not believe in it." I shall always remember her smile as she questioned, "Do you believe in God?" Upon my replying that I did, and hearing her assurance, "That is all that is necessary," I began the upward climb from sense to Soul, that has never ceased.
