Christian Science is the religion of Christ Jesus practiced...

Christian Science is the religion of Christ Jesus practiced and demonstrated. Its accomplishments proceed from the recognition and demonstration of such spiritual truths as that God is the only cause and creator; that He made all and all that He made is good. It ascribes to God all power. He created all. "All things were made by him." What He created was wholly good. "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good." Thus to Christian Scientists, God is supreme and infinite good.

From the established fact that God created all, a perfect creation logically follows. In the case of man, this is made specific by the fact that God created man "in his own image." To be the image of God, man cannot be less than perfect. But the Bible requires that we distinguish between the spiritual man of God's creation and so-called mortal man. In Christian Science we accept spiritual man as the real man, and insist that "this mortal must put on immortality."

Christian Science does not deny the divinity of Christ. On page 26 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy we read, "This Christ, or divinity of the man Jesus, was his divine nature, the godliness which animated him." Christian Science thus distinguishes between the human Jesus and the divine Christ. Again, Jesus said that he was not God, as may be inferred from Matthew 19:17, where we read that he asked: "Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God." And Christian Science definitely teaches that Christ Jesus was the Son of God, the Messiah.
