While in a Christian Science practitioner's office I was...

While in a Christian Science practitioner's office I was asked if I had ever thought of laying aside my glasses, which I had worn since the age of four years. My answer was that I had not, as I had worn them for so long that they were a part of me, and besides I thought that they were rather becoming. The practitioner then said, "But you want to, don't you?" and I answered that I did.

Shortly after this my glasses began to slip off my nose, so I went to an oculist and had a new nose piece put in them, as the old one seemed to be worn; but this did not remedy them any, for they still slipped off. The man who had repaired them said the nose piece could not fit any better if it molded to my nose. Shortly after this the glasses were broken and I said to myself, Well, you can just stay there. I then telephoned to the practitioner and told her that my glasses were broken, and she wanted to know what I was going to do about it. When I told her my decision she said, "Good; I'll help you."

At first it seemed hard, as to mortal sense I could hardly see at all and my husband had to help me around; but I clung steadfastly to the truth and gradually my sight improved, so that in a month I was able to read the finest print. About five years before this healing a specialist who was a personal friend of my husband after examining my eyes told my husband that I should be totally blind inside of ten years.
