Truth

"But above all things Truth beareth away the victory." So reads an inscription prominently placed on a very beautiful public building in a large city. This great motto is visible to thousands of people as they go about their business.

One day a Christian Scientist looked up in passing and, reading these words, saw the truth of the statement so clearly that a problem which had seemed very real was completely solved. No doubt this was an example of the angel-thought which Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader, speaks of in "Miscellaneous Writings," when she says (p. 306), "It is a spiritual idea that lights your path!" pondering further on this truth which had sustained and broadened her faith, the Christian Scientist realized that it is Truth that works and conquers. What a wonderful statement it was, for Truth never even sees the evil or error which so easily besets mortals! Truth itself is above all things: it is spiritual, and never falls from its high estate. However, we must know and be able to realize the truth of this statement in order to demonstrate it; then we shall win the victory over material sense testimony.

This reasoning gave the Christian Scientist great encouragement, for she thought how very wonderful it will be when the whole world sees the truth contained in the statement And daily demonstrates it. If we constantly know the truth, assured that the spiritual idea as taught in Christian Science will light our path, we shall be victorious.
