We read in the Acts of the Apostles that when Paul came to Athens he found among the altars to the many false gods an altar inscribed, "To the unknown God;" and in his wonderful sermon spoken in the midst of Mars Hill he made this inscription a text from which he declared, revealed, to the Athenians the God whom they ignorantly worshipped.
