It is my duty and privilege to express a little of my gratitude for the blessings received through Christian Science. One healing for which I am especially grateful is that of a dear sister, who for many years was in bondage to a fistula and a severe bowel trouble, considered tubercular. As she was a strong believer in materia medica, it seemed the time was not ripe for Christian Science treatment. Two well-known surgeons were consulted, and pronounced it a very bad case. An operation was at once resorted to, without any good results whatever; and like the woman in the Bible, she was "nothing bettered, but rather grew worse." She endured several years of suffering and great discomfort without any relief; but despite all this, she still had faith in material remedies and again expressed the wish for medical aid, thinking another operation would help her.

The physician who had performed the operation was called and her wishes were made known to him. He frankly stated that he was not in favor of another operation, as he could not guarantee it would be a success and she might be worse off than she was.

As in so many cases, "man's extremity," is God's opportunity," so it was with my sister. After learning of the doctor's verdict, she reluctantly consented to have Christian Science treatment. Thereupon she was provided with the necessary literature, and after many years of faithful reading and prayer, and treatments given, a full realization of the truth that makes free was most beautifully manifested, and she was perfectly healed. I am very grateful to God and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for this healing; for it proved the nothingness of a material condition of many years' standing. Patience must prevail to the end!
