In your issue of March 26 you report a meeting of the Richmond Hill Literary and Debating Society, when questions were asked and answered concerning many interesting subjects. One of these subjects was Christian Science, and only one point of the minister's reply is given; but as that one piece of information is inaccurate, I will ask you to give me space to correct it.

Your report says that the minister "dealt fully with Christian Science, and mentioned that Mrs. Eddy's work, Science and Health, was placed by Christian Scientists, not merely on a level with the Bible, but above it."

That statement has not emanated from a Christian Scientist, and could not do so. The title of the Christian Science textbook in full is "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and it was written by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. In "Retrospection and Introspection" (pp. 24, 25) Mrs. Eddy says: "I then withdrew from society about three years,—to ponder my mission, to search the Scriptures, to find the Science of Mind that should take the things of God and show them to the creature, and reveal the great curative Principle,—Deity. The Bible was my textbook. It answered my questions as to how I was healed; but the Scriptures had to me a new meaning, a new tongue. Their spiritual signification appeared."
