It is several years since I began the study of Christian Science, and I now wish to express my deepest gratitude for all it has done, and is still doing, for me and my family. I think it is a great blessing to know even a little about Christian Science. I have found it a practical religion; the Bible is explained to my complete satisfaction; worry and the fear of death are in some degree lessened.

For many years I suffered from violent sick headaches. These left me through my study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Later, I was healed of chronic appendicitis, eczema, sprained ankle, burns, bee stings, and injuries from accidents. In some cases I had the help of a practitioner, and in others I did my own mental work. One experience I should like to tell about. One day, during the spring house cleaning, I was moving a heavy piece of furniture when it accidentally fell on the great toe of my left foot. My first impulse was to cry out and call some of the family to tell them how badly I was hurt; but instead, turning to God, I sat down and quietly tried to realize His ever-presence. I recalled Mrs. Eddy's words on page 331 of Science and Health, "He fills all space." The realization came so clearly that God's presence filled the entire room, that all sense of pain left me instantly. I took off the shoe to press out the dent, but was so rejoiced at being free from pain that it never occurred to me to look at the toe. When I did, some time later, it was only slightly discolored, and it never caused me any inconvenience. In a very short time the nail was replaced by a new one.

I am thankful for membership in The Mother Church and a Christian Science Society, where my husband and I attend services regularly, although the distance we have to travel is nearly twelve miles. I am thankful for our literature; especially do I appreciate the Sentinel, in which I find a wide range of helpful articles. And our Hymnal! I so often find in it just what I need. Although all my needs do not yet seem to have been met, I am rejoicing in some understanding of Christian Science, which to me seems the only thing worth while.—(Mrs.) Alice C. Gerdemann, High Hill, Missouri.
