Christian Science came into my life about seven years ago, at a time when I was looking for a home. I was directed to a house where Christian Scientists lived, and it proved to be a wonderful home to me for two and a half years; and there I learned about Christian Science. The peace and the joy that came to me were marvelous. Shortly after I commenced reading "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy I was healed of stomach trouble, catarrh, and a severe nervous condition. A little later on I was healed of cramp in my feet.

About two years later I ws healed of an infection on the instep of my foot. I was traveling about the country acting as a salesman at the time. My foot was very much swollen, and there was a great deal of inflammation. I thought at times it would be impossible to go on with my work, but I kept declaring the truth until I arrived home on a Friday evening. It was my privilege to serve that evening at the county jail, where we were holding Christian Science services. When I stood on my feet to go there, error tried to persuade me that it would be impossible to use my foot that night. Immediately I declared that I could be about my Father's business. The Lesson-Sermon for that evening was "Man," and the explanation given by Mrs. Eddy during the reading brought me a perfect healing, one of the most beautiful I ever experienced.
