Before I knew of Christian Science I had no religion,...

Before I knew of Christian Science I had no religion, for I did not wish to believe in a God who allowed—as I thought—so much suffering and evil. I had a great fear of dying and of being punished by a God in whom I had refused to believe. When I was told of Christian Science and something of the Christian Science God, I accepted it gladly. Very soon after that I saw in my home the healing of a severe and obstinate case of stomach trouble—just in a couple of treatments. Then I was healed in one day of an abscess in the ear which had caused my face to become quite discolored, and I was scarcely able to get a teaspoon between my teeth to take even liquid nourishment. A year later, after helping to nurse a case of diphtheria under medical treatment, I was taken with all the symptoms of that disease and seemed very ill indeed. On the Wednesday when help was given me by a loving Christian Science practitioner I improved immediately, and was up on Friday looking and feeling particularly well. Among other things I have been healed of obstinate indigestion.

For all this and much more I am truly grateful—grateful to God; to our Way-shower, Christ Jesus; and to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy; also to the consecrated Christian Science practitioners.
