In the summer of 1906, to please a friend I rather reluctantly attended a Christian Science Wednesday evening testimony meeting. At that meeting I realized that I had found the religion I had long been seeking, a practical religion which could be applied to the relief of the daily trials that beset mankind. I did not, however, take up the study of Christian Science until seven years later, when, with the Bible, the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and the shorter writings by Mary Baker Eddy as my "only textbooks for self-instruction in Christian Science" (Manual, p. 34), I began earnestly to study the truth that makes us free. Through the daily reading and application of this truth as it unfolded to me, I was healed of nervous prostration, paralysis of the intestines, and fallen arches for which I had worn arch supporters eleven years. These healings took place during the years 1914 and 1915, and have been permanent. Headaches and colds have also been overcome as I have given up a belief in life in matter for an understanding of God as the only Life of man.

I am grateful for the privilege of serving the Cause of Christian Science through the activities of the branch church of which I am a member.
