Angel Visitants

Mrs. Eddy , in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 581), defines "angels" in part as follows: "God's thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect." One of these angels came to a Christian Scientist at a time when she was almost ready to be discouraged over the conglomeration of error that seemed to surround her, and brought a sense of peace. There came a sweet, restful sense of how the dear Father-Mother God is always caring for His children, even when they believe themselves to be in a material world striving to work out the problems of a weary human existence, always hoping for harmony but finding it only in snatches. This dear angel brought the thought that all the time we are thinking we are going through some human trial and are struggling to find a way out, our real selves are walking in the green pastures of His kingdom, watched over by His loving eye, and sustained in joy and eternal peace! That is what is really true about us.

This angel came as the result of study in Christian Science about the law of man's real existence; and it is only one of the many angels that appear when thought is ready to perceive and entertain them. Christian Scientists, with each demonstration over evil, are coming to know more fully that man's true being is harmonious in every sense of the word; and the more they study and learn, the greater is the desire to continue their search for Truth. They love to think that the turmoil and tumult of evil beliefs has never been heard in the house of God, and, what is more, never will be!

Continuing to quote from the definition mentioned above, we find that angels are also "the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality." When the inspiration to do a kindly, helpful deed comes to us, or we are impelled to think loving thoughts of one who has apparently wronged us, we are entertaining God's angels, and their presence in our consciousness becomes a reality to us through listening to and obeying their tender messages.
