Christian Science has no connection whatever with faith healing, nor are its healing works accomplished by suggestion. Christian Science, far from being "wrongly so-called," is a title which entirely expresses the origin, activity, and scope of its teaching. It is Christian because it follows the Way-shower, Christ Jesus, who came to reveal Truth to humanity. His ministry,—compassionate, loving, gentle, and helpful,—healing the sick, reforming the sinner, and enfolding all mankind in its embrace, will ever be the standard which the adherents of Christian Science must strive to reach. It is scientific because it has brought to light those everlasting laws of life, of which Jesus was so perfectly cognizant—God's laws, always in operation at all times, in all places, throughout eternity. This Science of Christianity, or knowledge of God and of true Sonship, gave the Saviour the power to dispel with a word the afflictions of humanity. Above the limitations of mortal, finite concepts he discerned reality, the facts of true being, and applied this knowledge to regenerate, reform, and deliver men.

That this understanding might be won by all his followers he proclaimed by his words, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has again revealed to this age the divine laws of Life, the Science Jesus knew and demonstrated; and with marvelous rapidity, with "signs following," this truth has spread over the world. Those laboring under heavy burdens of sin, disease, or fear, are learning that God is not the author of evil, that it does not emanate from Him, and therefore does not come under the category of Truth, or reality. Thus temporal falsities are displaced by the understanding of enduring realities, ever available, ever operative, and unspent. In approaching the hitherto obscured facts of God's creation, the seeker experiences, proportionately to his understanding, the blessings this Science brings, the healing touch of the Christ, whereby the immortal promise is substantiated: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
