The Story of Our Textbook

June the fourth, 1925, will mark the completion of the first half century since the Christian Science textbook was given to the world by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. On that day in 1875, a book entitled "Science and Health," by Mary Baker Glover, was entered for copyright in the office of the Librarian of Congress at Washington.

As a fitting mark of this notable date in the history of Christian Science, the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy have authorized the publication of a Half Century Edition of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in the pocket size, announcement of which appears elsewhere in this issue of the Christian Science Sentinel.

On page 106 of "Miscellaneous Writings" Mrs. Eddy makes the emphatic statement, "Christian Science and Christian Scientists will, must, have a history." At this particular period in divine unfoldment, Christian Scientists need to awaken to the fact that Christian Science, with a background of half a century, already has a glorious history; that it is firmly established upon the Rock, Christ. In grateful contemplation of this fact, let us rededicate ourselves to a fuller demonstration of its healing truths.
